The region is easy to access from Central Europe with good motorway access to Munich and Vienna.
From the UK it is about 14 hours drive from the Channel ports.
If you are travelling from the north of England there are excellent ferry crossings from Hull and Newcastle to Holland. These put you close to the German autobahns for a "swift" drive to Austria

The region has good train links through either Paris, Brussles, Vienna to Hegyeshalom (Rail nexus on the Austrian/Slovakia/Hungarian corder) and from there to the whole of Europe.

The best international airports for Western Transdanubia and Lake Balaton are Vienna, Bratislava, Linz and Budapest. Other close airports are Ljubljana (Slovenia), Klagenfurt (Austria).
